(I posted this on Daily Kos today.)
Sen. Andrew Rice has Oklahoma Democrats buzzing about his announcement that a decision on a potential run against Sen. Jim Inhofe is on the horizon.

As many of you know, I have worked with several local bloggers and others in the state to help generate excitement about Sen. Rice’s prospects as a candidate. It’s paying off. More than 500 people have signed our petition and now Andrew is engaged in the exploration of a run. This is truly a grassroots campaign.
The only Republican who might seem happy at the prospect of an Andrew Rice candidacy is Ann (no, really, I’m going to a cocktail party after this TV appearance) Coulter. She has to be desperate to find a new target after being undressed by Elizabeth Edwards on Hardball Tuesday.
Even right-wingers cringed at the lame attempts to defend her past slams of Sen. John Edwards. If Reagan had his 11th Commandment, the Religious Right has their 12th and 13th Commandments:
— Don’t bring the kids into a political fight.
— Don’t ever bring dead kids into a political fight.
So Ann will hide in her fraidy hole for a while, but when she emerges she’ll eventually set Andrew in her crosshairs. Remember when Ann called 9/11 widows “groupies” and accused them of profiting off the deaths of their spouses. Well here comes the first potential, high-profile candidate who lost a loved one in the Towers on 9/11. How long before the Ice Queen accuses Andrew of exploiting the death of his brother for political gain? It will happen. Don’t make me say, “I told you so.”
In the meantime, Andrew appears to be closer than ever to making Jim Inhofe’s worst nightmares come true . . . a straight-talking, intelligent, Christian Democrat who’s unafraid to stand up for what mainstream America and Oklahoma believes on the ballot in 2008.
