Yesterday, the Oklahoma legislature voted to override the veto Brad Henry signed to House Bill 1326, the embryonic stem cell research ban. While the House voted to override the veto, the State Senate was able to allow the veto to stand. 19 State Senators voted Nay and earned the gratitude and respect of many Oklahomans. Without these 19 individuals, Oklahoma would have taken a huge step backward not only in out ability to attract scientific and medical research, but in how we treat the illnesses in the future that such research will find treatment for.
The following is a link to the vote on the veto override in the State Senate. The 19 Nay votes are owed a tremendous thanks from the state of Oklahoma and I would appreciate individuals to send them personal messages thanking them for their service.
Their email and contact information can be found on the Oklahoma State Senate home page.
